T.K. Thompson began his association with the performing arts on Cape Cod in 1970 as a student performer. It was this
experience more than 35 years ago that set his course for a career in performance, arts administration and education.
Mr. Thompson's background and experience fall on both sides of the footlights, encompassing governance, administration,
development, marketing, artistic direction, producing, stage direction and conducting. In his many dual roles of
administrator and artistic visionary, he has coupled a keen insight into good business practices with his
knowledge of the creative disciplines.
As Director of Administration & Operations for The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art in Santa Ana, California, Mr. Thompson provided oversight to all business, financial, and personnel matters, and coordinated project management for the $15 million expansion of the Bowers from an 11,000 square feet facility to a 70,000 square feet facility. Additionally, as an administrator and educator, Mr. Thompson served as General Manager & Music Director for Music Theatre of Wichita and Wichita Children's Theatre in Wichita, Kansas; Manager for The Barns of Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia; Founder/Producer & Artistic Director for Music Theatre North in Potsdam, New York; Development Consultant for Sacramento Theatre Company in Sacramento, California; and Director of Opera/Music Theatre for Crane School of Music, State University of New York in Potsdam.
