Welcome to ArtsMPS T.K. Thompson began his association with the performing arts on Cape Cod in 1970 as a student performer. It was this experience more than 35 years ago that set his course for a career in performance, arts administration and education. Mr. Thompson's background and experience fall on both sides of the footlights, encompassing governance, administration, development, marketing, artistic direction, producing, stage direction and conducting. In his many dual roles of administrator and artistic visionary, he has coupled a keen insight into good business practices with his knowledge of the creative disciplines.

CCPAC design plans As Founder, President & Executive Director of Cape Cod Performing Arts Center from 1992 to 2006, Mr. Thompson expanded cultural opportunities in the region to feature performances and educational programs by internationally known artists and ensembles. He was responsible for planning and implementing all administrative and artistic activities of CCPAC. He also coordinated the planning of a capital building program for potential construction of a regional performing arts venue, including a 900-seat theatre, 2,000-seat outdoor seasonal performance venue, administrative offices and design and production facilities.

As Director of Administration & Operations for The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art in Santa Ana, California, Mr. Thompson provided oversight to all business, financial, and personnel matters, and coordinated project management for the $15 million expansion of the Bowers from an 11,000 square feet facility to a 70,000 square feet facility.

Additionally, as an administrator and educator, Mr. Thompson served as General Manager & Music Director for Music Theatre of Wichita and Wichita Children's Theatre in Wichita, Kansas; Manager for The Barns of Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, Virginia; Founder/Producer & Artistic Director for Music Theatre North in Potsdam, New York; Development Consultant for Sacramento Theatre Company in Sacramento, California; and Director of Opera/Music Theatre for Crane School of Music, State University of New York in Potsdam.

T.K. Thompson conducting Mr. Thompson is one of the first recipients of the Master of Fine Arts degree in Conducting from Carnegie-Mellon University, and has conducted well over 1,000 performances of music theatre, opera, symphonic music, chamber music and choral masterworks. He studied conducting with Grammy Award winner Robert E. Page, Assistant Conductor for the Cleveland Orchestra under Loren Maazel; and with Thomas Michalak, Assistant Conductor of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under William Steinberg and André Previn.

During his tenure as Music Director for Music Theatre of Wichita, Mr. Thompson served concurrently as Music Director for Camerata Musica, Wichita Symphony Youth Orchestra and Wichita Children's Theatre. He was also on the conducting staff at Carnegie-Mellon University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Crane School of Music.
